K2 is the second-highest mountain in the world, trekking to the base camp of K2 and crossing the Gondogoro La into Hushe valley is no doubt one of the best treks. On this trek, feast your eyes upon the great Trango Towers, the world’s tallest collection of peaks, the Masherbrum and Gasherbrums, the mighty K2 and Broad peak among many other famous mountains. On the K2  Trek, you will trek on the famous Baltoro and Godwin-Austen Glacier and pass Concordia to reach K2 base camp. Concordia is famous for its unique 360° panorama of 7,000 meters mountains. It is called “The throne room of the gods” and when you see it, you will know why. Its beauty is out of this world.

  • Unforeseen expenses caused by uncontrollable circumstances such as cancellations or flight delays, blocked roads, weather conditions, natural disasters …

Risks and Hazards
  • Falls and trips resulting in physical injury e.g. slipping on ice or falling off the path.
  • Altitude illness including but not limited to AMS, HACE and HAPE.
  • Getting lost or becoming separated from group e.g. Crossing Gondogoro La pass in whiteout.
  • Severe bad weather and conditions when camping e.g. at Concordia or Ali Camp.
  • Climatic injuries (dehydration, sun burn, heat exhaustion, hypothermia or heat stroke). Temperatures of up to 40 Celsius may be experienced during the first few days of the trek.
  • Crossing a river with no bridge resulting in drowning and/ or a fall. There are a number of river crossings on the trail to K2 Base Camp and after crossing Gondogoro La on way to Shaicho.
  • Rock fall and landslides e.g. crossing Gondogoro La pass. The jeep track Skardu – Askole and Hushe – Skardu is at a risk of rock fall and landslides as well as many sections of the trek.
  • Snow and ice avalanches e.g. crossing Gondogoro La pass. Lightning strike.
  • Wildlife, pack animals (e.g. donkeys or horses) or stray dogs. Pack animals have been known to knock people off the path. Dogs can attack and bite, we advise you discuss rabies vaccination with your doctor.
  • Earthquake. There is a high risk of earthquake in Karakoram Mountains.
  • Risk of fire in the hotel or lodge.
  • Endemic local diseases. We advise you discuss vaccinations with your doctor before departure.
  • Physiological injury such as heart attack, appendicitis, hernia, toothache etc. in a remote area.
  • Road traffic. The drive along the jeep track Skardu – Askole and Hushe – Skardu is a prone to landslides and rock fall and has many sections with high degree of exposure.
  • Flight accident on Islamabad – Skardu – Islamabad route. Contaminated food and/ or water.

Day 11: Rest Day at K2 Base Camp

After our epic trek to K2 Base Camp, it’s time to give our weary bodies a well-deserved break. Today, we’ll spend the day unwinding at the camp, indulging in some leisurely activities such as reading, sipping tea, savoring delicious food, and embarking on short exploratory trips.

K2 Base Camp is undoubtedly one of the most awe-inspiring campsites in Pakistan, and we want to relish every moment of it without any strenuous hiking involved!

Who knows, we might be lucky enough to witness the porters’ legendary high-altitude dance party, complete with their signature Balti-style moves!

Day 12: K2 Base Camp - Concordia (4,600 m)
Day 13: Concordia - Goro 1 (4,150 m)
Day 14: Goro 1 - Khoburtse (3,566 m)
Day 15: Khoburtse - Bardumal ( 3,200 m)
Day 16: Bardumal - Jhula - Drive to Skardu

Today after a short 2-3 hour trekking, we will arrive at the charming Balti village of Hushe, where we will enjoy a final cup of chai and bid farewell to our dedicated team of porters.

From Hushe, we will take a jeep back to Skardu, which will take approximately 6-7 hours depending on the road conditions. We will make a lunch stop along the way.

Upon reaching our hotel in Skardu, you can look forward to a much-needed and refreshing shower, which is sure to be one of the best you have ever had!
