K2 is the second-highest mountain in the world. On this trek, feast your eyes upon the great Trango Towers, the world’s tallest collection of peaks, the Masherbrum and Gasherbrums, the mighty K2 and Broad peak among many other famous mountains. On the K2  Trek, you will trek on the famous Baltoro and Godwin-Austen Glacier and pass Concordia to reach K2 base camp. Concordia is famous for its unique 360° panorama of 7,000 meters mountains. It is called “The throne room of the gods” and when you see it, you will know why. Its beauty is out of this world.

Risks and Hazards
  • Falls and trips resulting in physical injury e.g. slipping on ice or falling off the path.
  • Altitude illness including but not limited to AMS, HACE and HAPE.
  • Getting lost or becoming separated from group
  • Severe bad weather and conditions when camping e.g. at Concordia or Ali Camp.
  • Climatic injuries (dehydration, sun burn, heat exhaustion, hypothermia or heat stroke). Temperatures of up to 40 Celsius may be experienced during the first few days of the trek.
  • Crossing a river with no bridge resulting in drowning and/ or a fall. There are a number of river crossings on the trail to K2 Base Camp and after crossing Gondogoro La on way to Shaicho.
  • Rock fall and landslides e.g. crossing Gondogoro La pass. The jeep track Skardu – Askole and Hushe – Skardu is at a risk of rock fall and landslides as well as many sections of the trek.
  • Snow and ice avalanches e.g. crossing Gondogoro La pass. Lightning strike.
  • Wildlife, pack animals (e.g. donkeys or horses) or stray dogs. Pack animals have been known to knock people off the path. Dogs can attack and bite, we advise you discuss rabies vaccination with your doctor.
  • Earthquake. There is a high risk of earthquake in Karakoram Mountains.
  • Risk of fire in the hotel or lodge.
  • Endemic local diseases. We advise you discuss vaccinations with your doctor before departure.
  • Physiological injury such as heart attack, appendicitis, hernia, toothache etc. in a remote area.
  • Road traffic. The drive along the jeep track Skardu – Askole and Hushe – Skardu is a prone to landslides and rock fall and has many sections with high degree of exposure.
  • Flight accident on Islamabad – Skardu – Islamabad route. Contaminated food and/ or water.
Day 1: Arrival in Islamabad
  • Activities: Arrive at Islamabad International Airport. Meet the team and attend a detailed briefing about the K2 Base Camp trek itinerary. Learn about the Karakoram Range treks, gear requirements, and safety protocols.
  • Accommodation: Hotel in Islamabad.
  • Meals: Dinner.
Day 2: Flight to Skardu / Karakoram (2,228 m)
  • Activities: Take a scenic flight to Skardu, offering aerial views of the Karakoram Range, including Nanga Parbat. If the flight is canceled due to weather, travel via the Karakoram Highway (12–14 hours).
  • Accommodation: Hotel in Skardu.
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 3: Rest Day at Skardu
  • Activities: Explore Skardu, the gateway to trekking in Pakistan. Visit Shangrila Resort, Skardu Fort, and Satpara Lake. Final gear check for the trek.
  • Accommodation: Hotel in Skardu.
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 4: Drive to Askoli (3,000 m)
  • Activities: Drive through rugged terrain to Askoli, the last village before the trek to K2 Base Camp. Enjoy views of the Indus River and the Braldo River.
  • Accommodation: Camping at Askoli.
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 5: Trek to Jula (3,200 m)
  • Activities: Trek to Jula, crossing suspension bridges with views of Bakhor Das Peak (5,809 m). The trail offers a mix of riverbanks and rocky terrain.
  • Accommodation: Camping at Jula.
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 6: Trek to Paju Camp (3,450 m)
  • Activities: Continue trekking to Paju Camp, where the Baltoro Glacier begins. Enjoy views of Paiju Peak (6,610 m) and the surrounding cliffs.
  • Accommodation: Camping at Paju.
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 7: Acclimatization and Rest Day at Paju
  • Activities: Rest and acclimatize to the altitude. Optional short hikes with views of Trango Towers and Cathedral Towers..
  • Accommodation: Camping at Paju.
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 8: Trek to Khoburse (3,800 m)
  • Activities: Begin trekking on the Baltoro Glacier with stunning views of Uli Biaho (6,417 m) and Great Trango Tower (6,286 m).
  • Accommodation: Camping at Khoburse.
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Day 9: Trek to Urdukas (4,000 m)
  • Activities: Climb further along the glacier to Urdukas, offering panoramic views of Masherbrum (7,821 m) and surrounding peaks.
  • Accommodation: Camping at Urdukas.
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 10: Trek to Goro II (4,300 m)
  • Activities: Trek through ice and rock to Goro II, located near the base of Gasherbrum IV (7,925 m).
  • Accommodation: Camping at Goro II.
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 11: Trek to Concordia (4,600 m)
  • Activities: Reach Concordia, the “Throne Room of the Mountain Gods,” offering breathtaking views of K2 (8,611 m), Broad Peak (8,051 m), and the Gasherbrum Peaks.
  • Accommodation: Camping at Concordia.
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 12: Trek to Broad Peak Base Camp and K2 Base Camp (5,150 m)
  • Activities: Trek to Broad Peak Base Camp and K2 Base Camp. Visit the Gilkey Memorial, dedicated to climbers who lost their lives on K2 expeditions.
  • Accommodation: Camping at K2 Base Camp.
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 13: Trek Back to Concordia
  • Activities: Retrace your steps to Concordia, soaking in the breathtaking scenery of the Karakoram Range.
  • Accommodation: Camping at Concordia.
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Day 14: Trek to Goro I/Biango Camp.
  • Activities: Continue trekking to Goro I/Biango Camp..
  • Accommodation: Camping at Goro I/Biango Camp.
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 15: Trek to Khoburse.
  • Activities: Continue trekking to Khoburse Camp.
  • Accommodation: Camping at Khoburse.
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 16: Trek to Paju.
  • Activities: Continue trekking to Paju Camp
  • Accommodation: Camping at Paju.
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 17: Drive Back to Askoli
  • Activities: End the trekking portion of the journey and drive back to Askoli.
  • Accommodation: Camping at Askoli.
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 18: Drive Back to Skardu
  • Activities: Return to Skardu by jeep, passing scenic valleys and rivers.
  • Accommodation: Hotel in Skardu.
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 19: Fly Back to Islamabadure Day
  • Activities: Take a morning flight to Islamabad. If flights are canceled, drive via the Karakoram Highway.
  • Accommodation: Hotel in Islamabad.
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 20: Contingency Day in Islamabad

  • Activities: Explore Islamabad. Optional visits to Faisal Mosque, Lok Virsa Museum, and Daman-e-Koh.
  • Accommodation: Hotel in Islamabad.
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 21: Departure to Home Country
  • Activities: Transfer to Islamabad International Airport for departure.
